Cost:
We do not charge for volunteer placements, though there are costs involved including flights and accommodations. Although living expenses can vary based on individual preferences, volunteers can anticipate paying around US$200 per month to rent a small apartment and US$150 per month for food. For longer-term volunteers we are able to offer housing at a minimum rate of US$100 per month.

Other information:
Volunteers learn about traditional Maya culture, including medicinal plants and backstrap weaving, and are encouraged to take a weaving class to better understand the traditional art we work to preserve and promote. Volunteers practice their Spanish, as well as help our Guatemalan staff improve their English.
