Volunteering Abroad Shouldn't Cost the Earth

Volunteer at Children’s Home & Jungle School Honduras

Description

We are a diverse group of volunteers and Partners united by a love of children and the desire to help them move from abject poverty, abuse, neglect and abandonment to a satisfying, decent and fulfilling life. Volunteers and Partners come from all walks of life, striving to provide a loving and healthy environment to children in the city of La Ceiba on the north coast of Honduras.

We are looking for volunteers to assist the children at our Children's Home and at our Jungle School (Grades K-9) which sits up on a hill surrounded by trees and overlooking the Cangrejal River. Volunteers are immersed in day-to-day life with the children, and volunteers should be ready to help the children with their homework, tutoring in English and Math, teaching computer skills, planning different activities for the children, and reading stories, etc. At the Jungle School, you will be assisting the teachers in various grades and classes. The volunteers work alongside the Honduran teacher to assist the children with understanding Math problems, speaking and writing English, Science projects, teaching different classes as occasionally needed, and getting involved in other daily activities, etc. There is never a dull moment, and there is always a child ready to give or receive a hug. We also appreciate volunteers that desire to share and teach talents and skills with our children (e.g. computers, karate, athletics, dancing, sewing, carpentry, cooking, gardening, etc). If you have a special skill or talent to share, we would love to have you volunteer with us.
