Volunteer in Communal Workshop
This project is a social and economic initiative working with indigenous women living in a village community. The women of the village live in extreme poverty, and for most, this is the first chance they have had to learn skills to earn money in a humane and respectful working environment.
The village creates child-friendly dress up dolls from natural materials. Homespun fibers and fabrics reflect a wide variety of traditional clothing and traditional skills of shepherding alpaca and sheep, carding, spinning, dyeing, weaving, knitting and embroidery. The combined qualities of imagination, color, and therapeutic work give rise to the healing environment in this women's workshop. Proceeds from the sell of these dolls contribute to the installation of water, electricity, and toilets in addition to providing a fair wage for labour.
The project welcomes volunteers that want to share their particular skills and talents. Volunteers work for 4 hours a day, 5 days a week.

Wild Animal Refuge Volunteer
The animals here are rescued from circuses, animal dealers or homes and are brought to the refuge for rehabilitation and liberation back into the wild. For those animals that are debilitated or captivated for an irretrievable amount of time, the refuge provides them the care they need and a home in the jungle. The refuge houses about 200 monkeys, dozens of tropical birds and wild cats like pumas, jaguars and ocelots.
Everyone can volunteer, you don't need previous experience or a biology degree, all you need is a big heart and the will to work hard to save the animals. Volunteers who wish to be responsible for a specific animal need further training and therefore are required to stay for a month (usually more for the cats).
