Creating Opportunities for Families in Poverty Nicaragua

We are a non-profit NGO that has been improving the living conditions of the poorest, most vulnerable, and destitute families in the city of Camoapa, Nicaragua since 2004. Thanks to volunteering and international cooperation, we realized multiple activities that strengthen and allow the growth of children and families. In our urban and two remote center we care for children before and after school days providing them additional learning and growth opportunities. In addition, we empower other groups such as young mothers through workshops and campaigns to eradicate poverty.
Our volunteers help in the different activities carried out such as education, school reinforcement, English classes, educational talks, crafts, psychology, social work, technology and computing, singing, flute, piano, painting, dance, attention to pregnant adolescents, learning workshops among other activities that you wish to share in order to help the development and enhance the talent and abilities of each girl and boy. We also have two service centers in the rural area where you can carry out the same activities and support the environmental program, focused on the area of organic food production to supply our organization.
All volunteers stay with families with whom we have worked for years. The family provide breakfast and dinner. During the week lunch is provided at the foundation whereas on weekends the volunteer receives lunch at the family. We are happy to share contact details of previous volunteers on request.

Cost:
You just have to pay US$40 at the beginning to participate in the program, after that US$10 per day paid directly to the host family to cover expenses for food and accommodation. At the end we give you a certificated for having participated on the program.

In Camoapa you will find the most beautiful of welcomes, a large family environment, an opportunity for exchange and learning, to get to know and enjoy the beautiful and welcoming places of this city. Volunteers can decide according to their expectations and abilities what they want to do in the projects. We are happy to help you arrange trips in the area or to other touristic places in Nicaragua. Our organization provides the perfect environment to learn and improve your Spanish. We have had many volunteers not knowing any Spanish when arriving and leaving perfectly fluent after a few months.
