Cost:
US$350 which includes camping in the reserve and 3 meals per day. Volunteers will be responsible for buying their own snacks if they would like to have access to food outside of scheduled meals. Let us know of your dietary preferences: vegan/vegetarian and/or any restrictions/allergies you have.
Other information:
It is required that the volunteers bring their own camping equipment: tent, sleeping mat, and sleeping bag. If you do not have a tent, we can help to organize sharing between the volunteers. Dry toilets and showers will be available on site. During the days off, volunteers can leave the site - 20 mins to walk down the mountain and arrive to town where the bus terminal is located. From there, they can explore the area of Peten, visiting towns such as Santa Elena, Flores, San Miguel, El Remate, all of which are surrounding lake Peten Itza. There is also the possibility to go and see the Mayan ruins of Tikal, Yaxa, Nakun y Naranjo. We will have more information of the transport available and other recommendations while on site.
